TEXT: (Matt 3 : 13 – 17)
Every Christian is looking for open heaven; one of the major reason we cry and pray is so there will be open heaven for us. Though this being the highest desire of our heart, we have never ask ourselves how Jesus got His open heaven when He was baptized.
What made heaven to open and declare Jesus to be the son of God in whom God is well pleased, is because of the humbleness of Jesus. Humbleness attracted open heaven to Jesus; though some may say that it is because He was the son of God before coming to the world. I want us to know that while Jesus was on earth in His fleshly form, He was a human just as we are; He has no advantage over us. He is purely human just as we are ( see Heb 4:15).
Jesus was humble when He was in heaven before coming to the world; that is why He took the form of a human. He was God, but never counted Himself equal with His father, rather He chose the form of a servant by coming to the world as human. He took on flesh and made Himself equal with us in order to tell us that we can still be heir of God though we are human. Even in His human form; He counted our live more important than His, that is why He chose to die for our sin. When He came to John the Baptist, He chose to be baptize by John as a servant; instead of taking the seat of master by baptizing John. We are called to be like Him, counting others more important than us ( see Phil 2:1-9).
Jesus was able to do all this because He look at the father, and out of His mercy and love, He is calling us to the throne of grace to find help to live the life we are called to live. Holy Spirit is seating at the throne of grace waiting for us to come and receive His help. Jesus has provided us the Holy Spirit; that He may teach us how to be and live like Him, so we can access open heaven where we will be confirmed to be His sons and daughters. All we need to do is just to give the Holy Spirit time and attention; to listen and do whatever He ask of us. This is the only way to be like Jesus. Our time and obedience to all He tells us is what it will cost; nothing more (see Heb 4:16, John 16:7,13-14).
Bring out at least one hour everyday of your life; make it a specific and convenient time. Don’t allow any distraction when you come to Him in your house at that time you have chosen. Don’t be the teacher, allow Him to teach; only asked questions when you have any. Follow His leadings, you will discover that God is good indeed.
